Modern WEB is based in Canberra and on the mid north coast of NSW. As an Internet Development company our clients can, and do, come from all over Australia.

Our Team

Rob Tibbett
Rob Tibbett

Managing Director/Senior Consultant - Project Management, Business Analysis and Web Development.

Rob is the Managing Director of Modern Web and oversees the project management and systems design work. Rob is also heavily involved with software development and business analysis roles within the business.

Rob has a Degree in Applied Science and a Graduate Diploma in Computing Studies. He established his first computer consultancy company, Robert Tibbett & Associates Pty Ltd, in 1984. This later became Modern Web, to better reflect the nature of our business.

He has over 27 years of diverse experience in information technology as a project manager, systems analyst and software developer. Rob specialises in designing commercial web applications with a strong emphasis on business analysis and database development.

Rob has been involved in the design of web and desktop applications for over 70 organisations around Australia. He has also gained valuable project management experience from his involvement in numerous Australia wide and globally distributed enterprise class software projects.

Rob has a strong background in business. He understands first-hand the pressures of managing a business in a competitive market place. Rob spent 14 years as Managing Director of a retail business which achieved in excess of $33 million dollars in sales from over 24,000 customers. He knows how important good computer systems are in maintaining a commercially viable business.

Rob is also a Director of Regional Tourism Australia where he manages the web development for a number of regional based web projects. Rob's responsibilities also include e-Marketing, content management and strategic IT planning.

Rob has also conducted many IT courses involving word processing, spreadsheets, database and operating systems. Training has given him valuable experience in communicating with clients at all levels. Rob has also taught small business management and retail operations for TAFE NSW.

Paul Smith
Paul Smith

Consultant - Systems Analysis and Desktop Development.

Paul is an experienced IT professional with over two decades of experience in the information technology sector as a developer, business analyst and consultant.

Paul gained his IT degree from the ANU in 1990, and has since been providing his expertise to a large number of clients, including State and Federal Government departments, private sector organisations and non-governmental organisations.

He has a wealth of experience in analysing and developing enterprise-wide database applications for a variety of industry sectors, with emphasis on the water resources, environmental and tourism sectors. He worked for the Federal Government on regional development grant packages; the NSW State Government on environmental water issues; and the Kosciusko National Park on their plan of management.

Paul is also a director of the Canberra-based software development company Atom Software.

Paul Hopkins
Paul Hopkins

Consultant - Business Analysis and Software Engineering.

Paul Hopkins is a professional software developer with over 20 years of experience in the industry. His business analysis and software engineering skills have made him a sought after consultant to businesses looking to improve their current IT processes and technology bases.

Paul has extensive experience in business analysis; process modelling and improvement; software systems analysis and design; and database analysis, design and optimisation. He frequently works with Commonwealth and local governments assisting them with their enterprise-level software development projects.

Paul is also a director and co-founder of Atom Software, a Canberra-based software development company.

Simone Dilkara
Simone Dilkara

Consultant - Project Management and Community Engagement.

Simone specialises in project management and community engagement. She has built her career by successfully helping people and organisations establish new systems, partnerships and ways of working.

Simone is adept at helping organisations engage with their communities and get people on board. Her particular strengths include collaborative planning processes and collective mobilisation of multi-partner projects. She recently developed and managed a successful $2 million project which delivered major positive outcomes for 4 disparate regional NSW councils.

Her passion is working in rural, regional and remote communities. For a number of years she taught post graduate level project management and evaluation at the University of Canberra. Simone has a Bachelor of Community Education and a Masters in Applied Anthropology & Participatory Development.

Ben Kaehler
Ben Kaehler

Consultant - Data Modelling and iApp/Android Development.

Ben is our senior data modelling adviser and iApp/Android development consultant. His technical skills have been recognised at an international level.

Ben has extensive commercial experience developing software as diverse as wireless networking protocols on embedded devices and graphical interfaces for managing over a billion dollars' worth of financial risk. Ben has spent seven years working for the Macquarie Group and Bank producing high quality software, including developing large, real time financial databases, applications deployed internationally on distributed platforms, and advanced modelling libraries.

Ben also holds four degrees: a PhD in statistics, a Masters degree in quantitative finance, an Engineering degree with first class honours in computing, and a Science degree in physics. He has taught at university level and been published internationally.

Vickie Tibbett
Vickie Tibbett

Director/Consultant - Business Operations and Administration.

Vickie is our business administration and copywriting consultant. She has a Degree in Bachelor of Arts in Secretarial Studies and over 30 years of industry experience in office management, accounts processing and executive assistant duties.

Vickie has vast experience in all aspects of business operations and office administration. Her career has involved a broad spectrum of executive assistant duties helping large businesses and senior management optimise their time and resources. Her roles have included human resource scheduling, event management, travel and accommodation bookings, staff and payroll management and business accounting.

Vickie's organisational skills have been used by the Federal Government during major Australian events such as the Australian Police Minister's Council, Commonwealth Games, Australian War Crimes Review and the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
